BALCLUTHA DISTRICT NEWS (From Ocr Own Correspondent.) BALCLUTHA, September 7. WHITEBAIT RUN. Whitebait were running in the Koau branch of the Molyneux River this morning, and some good catches were made in the tidal waters; so much so that the nsh were being sold round the town at a reasonable price. PERSONAL. Mr Jack Scott left yesterday morning for Wellington, en route for Melbourne. He will join Mr Crutehley in lamb buying in the Victorian country districts on behalf of Sims, Cooper. Miss Mary Pratt, of Dunedin. and party gave an enjoyable concert in the Britannia Theatre on Monday night, the theatre being about three parts tilled. Miss Pratt is touring the country «istrictfl prior to her departure for England. ANGLING PROSPECTS. Prospects for the angling season next month are said to be good in South Otago. It is true that the smaller streams are low because of lack of rain, but this does not apply to streams like the Puerua, Owaka, and Pomahaka, where, latest observers say. there 's plenty of water and feed. Even in the Molyneux, where there is never any question of lack of water, some good fish have been seen rising to the whitebait, and also in the vicinity of the lock near the mouth of the Puerua.
