MR BRUCE CRITICISED

THE AGENTS-GENERAL “TREATED LIKE CHILDREN.” LONDON, July 26. Regret that Australia’s Resident Minister in London, Mr S. M. Bruce, was not informing them of the inside working of the Economic Conference, loan developments and other matters of importance to Australia, was expressed by the Agents-general to-day. The matter was discussed at a meeting held in the office of the Agentgeneral for South Australia, Mr L. L. Hill.

One speaker wanted to know what the Agents-general were in London for, and added that if Mr Bruce continued to “ ride the high horse ” and treat the Agents-general like school children, they might as well spend their time drinking tea and eating cakes or return to Australia.

The speaker concluded: “State representation at present is a farce, as Mr Bruce tries to do everything himself, and keeps us completely in the dark.” The meeting agreed to ask Mr Bruce to extend greater recognition of the Agents-general.
