THE OUTLET OF LAKE HAWEA

TO the editor. Sir, —At the outlet of Lake Hawea I noticed posts to which were attached form of application to dam the lake and spend £40,000 to £50,000 in two years. _ 1 understand the last time this application was made it was opposed by the Government. I have noticed through the press that the Government has been asked to do the work, but the same old story of lack of finance has been told, and the river still runs to the sea, and is likely to, if the matter is left to the present Government. I trust that the Labour Party and all interested in progress will take up the scheme and try to find work for the unfortunate by supporting the company that is making the application. —I am, etc., Unemployed. Hawea Flat, July 31.
