COMMUNITY SINGING

The weekly community sing will bo held in the Empire Theatre (by courtesy of the management) to-morrow from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. This week’s sing will be outstanding, being a special Rugby day. The touring Marlborough Rugby team, which is to play Otago on Saturday, will give its assistance, and it is hoped that some of the members will give individual items. In addition to the Marlborough team, the Puketeraki Maori members of the Karitane Football Club, under Mr Dick To Tau, will give hakas and Maori songs. The members of this troupe have been rehearsing special items for this sing. The sing this week will be controlled by Mr J. F. Hamburg. Miss Rita Holmes will be at the piano as usual, and everything promises for a specially happy hour. The collection last week was the largest to date, and it is to lie hoped that lifl-teners-in and those attending will give liberally to-morrow, so that an oven larger amount will he collected. The committee still appeals to listeners-in to send in their donations, no matter how small, either in goods or money, to the secretary, care Beggs, or to the Empire Theatre, and these will be acknowledged over the air
