“MOVE ON”
I'll TEE EDITOR.
Sir, —Will you or any of your learned readers tell me if there is a rule of the footpath to “Move On.” This is easily the worst city in New Zealand for people loitering on the footpaths. Surely the police' constables have authority to shift people congregated in groups on. the footpaths. This (Friday) afternoon after bumping my way as far as the Octagon at 3.20 p.m. it was laughable to see two policemen busily, engaged; in watching the men repairing the tram track when' they could be doing ‘ better service and keep themselves warm by shifting knots of, gossiping.. people congregated along the main streets. No other city in New Zealand would tolerate the laxity in the control of footpath traffic as it is in Dunedin.—l am, etc.,, Moved On.
