NEW CHIEF JUSTICE. SIR JOHN HARVEY APPOINTED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright ) SYDNEY, June 30. • Sir John Harvey, at present Chief Justice in Equity, succeeds Sir Philip street as Chief Justice, Sir John Harvey has been a judge of The Supreme Court of New South Wales since 1913. He was educated at Marlborough College and Oxford University, where he distinguished himself. He went to Australia in 1889, and was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1892. He is 68 years of age. THE RURAL BANKS. COMMISSIONERS APPOINTED. SYDNEY, June 30. The Government has decided to reconstitute the Board of Commissioners of Rural Banks as from to-morrow. The Cabinet has appointed three commissioners as follows: —Mr W. H. O’Malley Wood (chairman), Mr C. R. M'Kerihan, and Mr H. Rogers. The Moonee Valley Club will make the Moonee Valley Cup worth £3OOO.
