TAKEN BY SURPRISE
ATTEMPT TO ENTER STORE , BURGLARS HELD UP BY SHOTGUN (Peb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 30. Three young men were surprised when breaking into a general store at Manakau at 2 o’clock this morning, and were held until the arrival of the police, when they were arrested. They are stated to have a Wellington car in their possession. An employee of the store who sleeps on the premises was disturbed, and, after investigating, telephoned for the owner of the store (Mr Powell), who speedily arrived and held up the three men with a shotgun until the arrival of the police. The method of entry to the store was by cutting out a portion of the door.
