VINES’S INTENTIONS. NEW YORK, June 24. (Received June 25, at 6.30 p.m.)

Repeated rumours that Vines is planning to turn professional soon were partially substantiated to-day when it was learned that the tennis corporation which promotes professional exhibitions —William Tilden and other leading players, known as the “ Tilden Troupe ” —was prepared to offer the Californian 100,000 dollars to join the troupe next season. Press despatches from London quote Vines as saying that he would certainly give the offer his serious consideration, but that he was now playing amateur tennis and had made no definite decision to play professionally.
