SEEDINGS ANNOUNCED,
LONDON, Juno 21.
The seedings for the Wimbledon tournament in order of merit are: -Men: Vines, Crawford, Cochet, Austin, Sutter, Perry, Satoh, Lee. Women: Mrs Moody, Miss Round, Miss Scriven, Madame Mathieu, Miss Jacobs, Fraulein Krahwinkel, Mile. Jedrezjowska (Poland), Mile. Payot (Switzerland). As the seedings are virtually the ranking of the eight best players it shows that the Wimbledon committee considers Crawford the world’s second player. Vines and Crawford cannot meet before the final.
In the first round Andrews will meet Menzel, and Stedman will meet Oliff. The Doubles seedings are:—Men: Borotra and Brugnon, Vines and Giedhill, Hughes and Perry, Farquharson and Kirby. Women: Miss Ryan and Madame Mathieu, Miss Heeley and Miss Round, Miss Sigart and Miss Scriven, Miss Nuthall and Mrs Whittingstall. In the Mixed Doubles the seedings are: —Maier and Miss Ryan, Borotra and Miss Nuthall, Hughes and Mrs Mpody, Farquharson and Miss Heeley. Andrews and Stedman will meet Metcalf and Vinall in the first round of the Doubles.
Andrews has been drawn in the first quarter of the Singles. Others in this section include Vines, Perry, and Bernard.
