CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS SETTLEMENT NOT REACHED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 22. No settlement was effected after two days’ proceedings in the New Zealand furniture trade dispute which was continued in the Conciliation Council today before Mr P. Hally. The employers’ assessors, who originally proposed a wage for journeymen of IslOd an hour, increased their offer by a penny, which, however, was not acceptable to the employees, who finally agreed to Is Hid. In their original claim 2s 3d. an hour was suggested. A 44-hours’ week, as in the present award, was agreed to. , As a result of not reaching finality, the meeting' adjourned sine die to, enable both parties to consult their organisations on the new proposals.
