MANIOTOTO HOSPITAL BOARD MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Maniototo Hospital Board was held at Ranfurly on Monday, June 12, and was attended by Messrs H. W. Davis (chairman), T. A. Lowis, W. Strong, W. M. Mathewson, T. Dowling, N. Nicolson, Edward Morgan, and Peter Aitken. Dr Eudey also attended the meeting. Before commencing the business' the chairman congratulated Mr Strong on being again returned as the Naseby Borough Council representative on the board, and welcomed him to the table. —Mr Strong suitably replied. CORRESPONDENCE. Sister Cross applied for leave of absence from July 1 to January 31, 1934, for the purpose of taking her midwifery training.—Granted. _ . The secretary of the Waipiata Sanitoriiim Committee wrote requesting the board to appoint one of its members to represent it on the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee.—lt was resolved that Mr T. A. Lowis be reappointed the board’s representative for a further period of one year. . , , The committee also advised that the joint agreement would expire on December 5 .next, and asked if boards were agreeable to an extension of the agreement for a further term—ln, connection with thief matter it was suggested by Mr Dowling that the position was a little unsatisfactory at the present time on account of the families of patients in the sanatorium coming into the Maniototo district and eventually becoming a charge on the board. Mr Dowling moved — “ That the board be agreeable to n renewal of the agreement, for a further term, but that the Sanatorium Committee lie approached with the suggestion that patients in the sanatorium, and their families, remain a charge on the hospital boards concerned.” —The motion was seconded by Mr Morgan and carried. The Sanatorium Committee advised that one patient from the Maniototo district had been discharged on May 4 and that one patient from the Maniototo district was admitted on May 23.

The doctor reported that there wore one male and three females in the hospital at the date of the last return and six and nine respectively had since been admitted, making 19 treated. Four males and 10 females had been discharged during the month, leaving five under treatment. Two babies were born in the hospital during the month. An agreement with the Omakan Irrigation Medical Association for treatment of its members at reduced charges was submitted. The agreement had been approved and signed by the association, and was completed by ~the board. Mr Lowis furnished a report of the activities

of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee during his period of office, and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to him for the information supplied. The secretary reported that the total receipts for the month of May amounted to £239 10s 4d, and the debit balance in the general account as at June 1 amounted to £585 16s Id. Accounts and salaries amounting to £377 18s lid were passed for payment.
