WAIKOUAITI NOTES
(From Odb Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI. June 21.
ANGLICAN CHURCH
There, was a very large attendance at the annual meeting, of the Anglican Church held last evening, the vicar (the Rev. C, W. Foreman) presiding. After a brief introductory address, the vicar nominated Mr G. Heckler as vicar’s warden, Mr F. W. Inder being appointed people’s warden. Mrs Grubb was appointed temporary organist. Vestry—Messrs G, W. Knight, J. Preston, J. -N. Lawson, G. De Latour, O. Dempsey, W. Crothers, E. Griffiths, and H. W. Nind; hon. auditor, Mr R. M. Templeton. At the close of the business proceedings Mr F. W. Inder presented to Mr E. Davis, church organist, and president of the Sunday school for very many years, a church hymn book and an illuminated address. In making the presentation Mr Inder emphasised Mr Davis’s very active interest in all departments of-church work during'his 54 years’ residence, in Waikouaiti. Several other speakers supported Mr InderV remarks, and Mr Davis made a suitable reply. Under the direction of. Mrs Grubb the following programme wag presented:— Pianoforte solo. Miss Nind; a reading from “ School for Scandal,” members of the Dramatic Club; songs, Mr Js Tait; duet, Mesdamea Austin and M'Kenzie; part song, ladies.
