The Regent Theatre has been officially appointed to conduct Paramount s Search for Beauty” contest to help to find a perfect New Zealand man and a perfect New Zealand woman to go to Hollywood. Authority to conduct the contest has beon received from 1 aramount 1 ictures in Wellington. The contest will be open to all New Zealand-horn single men and women between the ages of 17 and 30 years. Winners of the contest m this locality will compete in the North and South'lsland finals, whilst the two winners from each island will undergo screen tests which will be forwarded to the Paramount Hollywood Studios for final judging by a committee of seven noted directors, . including Ernst Lubitsch, Cecil B. de Mille, Stephen Roberts. Stuart Walker Marion Goring, Lloyd Sheldon, and bred Datife. To the winning man and woman ot the national contest in New Zealand a contract will be given to appear in the J ammount picture, “ The Search for Beauty. They will be guaranteed a trip to the Paramount Hollywood Studios with all expenses paid, and they will be compensated by a salary of 50 dollars per week for a minimum of five weeks. They will also have their opportunity of competing with the representatives of six other Englishspeaking countries in a special bonus of 2000 dollars (£4OO at par) for the best performance given in the picture. All judging will be done by photographs to be sent to theatres conducting the contest.
