MAGISTRATE REFUSES BAIL

CHARGE AGAINST DOCTOR ILLEGAL USE OF INSTRUMENT ALLEGED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 11. The decision not to allcnv George Frederick HeAver, aged 39, medical practitioner, his liberty on bail pending the hearing of charges of unlaAvfully using an instrument and homicide was made by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court. When .Hewer was placed in the dock Mr Singer (his counsel) said that the magistrate had announced yesterday that he would consider the application for bail and give his decision to-day. Mr Hunt: I have decided to refuse bail in this case. I can use my oavu discretion in the matter. Mr Hubble, of the Crown Solicitor’s office, who appeared for the police, said that he Avould strongly oppose bail being alloAved HeAver.
