DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS OF FOURTH ROUND (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, October 11. The fourth round of the ladies’ golf championships saw calculations further upset, there being tivo more surprise Avins. Though Mrs Tcmpler (Waimate) had been playing steady golf during the tournament it Avas expected that Miss M. Stevens (Pupuke), the vanquisher of Miss Gaisford in the first round, Avould prove her superior, but Mrs Templar fought the match to the twentieth, Avhere she won 1 up. Miss Steveus had a lapse of form on the greens, and was most inconsistent at critical periods. She holed magnificent putts, but several times failed AA-hen a Aviu appeared a certainty. Mrs Templer should account for Miss Loughnan in the semi-final to-morrow, though perhaps it is unwise to predict any result in view of the number of surprises already witnessed. Miss Barns Graham (Poverty Bay), one of the most promising of the younger players, went down to Miss Loughnan, the match going to the nineteenth green. On two occasions now Miss Loughnan has pulled the game out of the fire at the extra hole. Miss Watson (Manawatu) was beaten by Miss Rutherford (Hawarden), this being another unlooked-for victory, for the Avinner has not shoAvn consistent form. She appeared to be off her game at the start, but suddenly struck form and gave a brilliant exhibition of driving and putting. On the day Miss Rutherford deserved her win, Mrs Collinson (Manawatu) beat Miss M. Tizard (Timaru), 2 up and 1 to play, after a hard-fought game. THE MELLSOP CUP. The Mellsop Cup Avas won by Miss O. Kay (Otago), with a total of 246. This is her seventh consecutive win. The cup has been held by only four players during the last 21 years. The runner-up this year is Mrs Dodgshun (Otago). DONNELLY CUP. The Donnelly Cup Avas won by Miss Jean Horwell (Timaru), who returned a gross score of 83, handicap 7, net 76. She also takes the trophy for the best score in the senior division. The junior division was won by Mrs M. Bruce (Timaru). The best gross score was returned by Mrs Dodgshun (score 82). INTER-DISTRICT TEAMS’ MATCH. The inter-district teams’ match was won by Cant6rbury A with a margin of 15 strokes over Otago A. The limes Cup to the player with the best round in the Avinning team was won by Miss Jean Horwell. Miss Rutherford tied with a score of 83, but Miss Horwell was adjudged the winner on the last nine holes. Championship results; — Miss B. Rutherford (HaAvarden) beat Miss S. Watson (ManaAvatu), 4 and 3. Mrs H. Collinson (ManaAvatu) beat Miss M. Tizard (Timaru), 2 up and 1. Mrs J. K. Tcmpler (Waimate) beat Miss M. Stevens (Pupuke), 1 up at the twentieth. Miss H. Loughnan (Christchurch) beat Miss Barns Graham (PoAerty Bay), 1 up at the nineteenth.
