NEW SOUTH WALES TORNADO, MANY BUILDINGS RAZED. SYDNEY, October 11. A tornado swept through the Manilla district, causing damage amounting to thousands of pounds. Sweeping along a quarter-mile front, it demolished sheds and fencing and killed a large number of poultry and livestock. One station homestead was destroyed and others were unroofed. Numerous barns, wool sheds, and garages were demolished. The Kiori siding station was smashed to pieces. Twenty telephone posts were broken and both the electric and telephone services were put out of action. \ TRAGEDY AT CROYDON. MURDER AND SUIQIDE. MELBOURNE, October 11. (Received Oct. 11, at 11 p.m.) Henry Hermann, aged 46, had a dispute with his wife on the veranda of her father’s house at Croydon to-day. He drew a revolver and shot and killed her, then turned the weapon on himself and committed suicide. THE OVERSEAS TRADE. RETURNS FOR TWO MONTHS. i SYDNEY, October 11. (Received Oct. 11, at 11 p.m.) Australia’s overseas trade for the first two months of the present financial year reveals a heavy decline in the' exports and a heavy increase in the imports. The acting Commonwealth statistician (Professor Giblin) believes that a rise in the exchange rate will be a natural corollary. The Commonwealth Bank Board, which is now meeting, will consider the exchange rate.
