SERIOUS RIOTING
. OUTBREAK AT FRIBOURG REGIMENT DISBANDED. GENEVA, October 9. The disbandment of a local regiment at Fribourg (Switzerland) after manffiuvres led to serious rioting, the cause being immediately due to the arrest of two soldiers who were singing the Internationale. Women preponderated in the crowd, which besieged the police station, every window of which was broken. Firemen tried to deluge the crowd but the hoses were cut. A colonel endeavoured control the crowd, but was knocked off his horse. The police fired in self-defence, wounding several rioters. The release of the prisoners at 2 o’clock in the morning ended a hectic night.
