PALMERSTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, October 10, BOWLING.
The local bowling green had a bright appearance on Saturday afternoon, when the official opening took place in fine weather. Mr Kenneth opened proceedings with bagpipe selections. Mr Roderick Cameron, president, then welcomed the members and visitors, and, after Mrs R. Cameron had rolled the first bowl, declared the green open. Speeches were made by Messrs Robertson (president of the North Otago Bowling Association), E. Grenfell (Phcenix), D. Bee (Meadowbank), Stokes (Hampden), A. Fell (Waikouaiti), and G. B. Smith (Palmerston Lawn Tennis Club). The lady bowlers also held their club opening. Rinks were drawn representing President v. Vice-president, and an enjoyable afternoon’s play took place.
