OPHIR NOTES (From Our Own Correspondent.) OPHIR. January 15. the weather. The best rainfall that has occurred in this part of the Manuherikia Valley since the end of last September set m before daylight yesterday morning, continuing throughout the day and until after luid* night. The ajnount of the fall was 77 points.. It was light rain, at times decreasing to a drizzle, and falling so gently that it soaked well into the soil. On Wednesday the ground was quite dry, only three inches below the surface; this morning it is soaked down to a depth of tally six inches. The rain will be of immense benefit to the pasturages.
