SUBMARINE PLAY
NAVAL MEN AS AUTHORS EARLY ENGLISH PRODUCTION. LONDON, January G. Rivalry between two naval officers for promotion is the theme of a play called “Under the Surface,” written by Commanders J. L. Hunt and H. ,G. Stoker, which will be produced shortly. Commander Stoker is now an actor, and played the part of the Colonel in “ Journey’s End.” Previously he commanded an Australian submarine which was sunk in the Dardanelles during the war, and he was imprisoned in Turkey for two years. The first act of the new play occurs in the captain’s cabin of the flagship of a submarine flotilla in an English port. Another scene shows the control room of the submarine while diving for shelter.
