BLOW ON THE JAW

BANK BANDIT DEFEATED LOS ANGELES, January 7. A heavy right to the jaw spoiled the plot of a bold bandit who invaded a big Los Angeles bank carrying'a dynamite bomb, and the robber was seized. Carrying a valise filled with dynamite, and equipped with a electric battery and a push-button alongside the handle, the bandit pushed his way into the office of the vice-president of the bank, Mr Tracy Hall. There ho handed in a note demanding £40,000, or “ the whole office will be blown to eternity.” With his left hand Mr Hall reached to receive the canvas bag which the bandit proffered, then with his right swung bn the robber’s jaw and knocked him flat. Roth plunged for the suitcase, and the robber touched the push-button; but the mechanism failed and he fled. Mr Hall caught him in the corridor and delivered him to the police.
