FIRE DESTROYS CIRCUS

ARSON SUSPECTED . TERRIFYING SCENES. BRUSSELS, January 14. (Received Jan. 14, at 9 p.m.) Arson is suspected as the cause of a fire which destroyed the famous Surrazani Circus at Antwerp. There were terrifying scenes while 200 horses, 57 lions, 16 tigers, 12 polar bears, and 22 elephants were rescued. The keepers rushed in among the plunging beasts and released them from their foot chains, but it was impossible to release 11 which were fatally burned. The damage exceeds £30,000. An anonymous threat to burn the circus was received yesterday and there has been .much controversy over allowing a foreign circus to enter the country at a time of economic crisis.
