FREE STATE ELECTIONS

OPENING OF CAMPAIGN THE PRESIDENT'S WARNING. DUBLIN, January 14. (Received Jan. 14, at 9 p.m.) Opening the election campaign at Ennis, President Cosgrave warned the people that if Fianna Fail fulfilled its intention of abolishing the oath of allegiance and violating the treaty there could be no appeal to the treaty as a shield against the consequences. He acknowledged Ireland’s dependence on Britain as her most important customer and source of supplies. He added that if Ireland was to benefit by Britain’s fostering of intercommonwealth commerce negotiations were essential. Fianna Fail, if returned, would repeal the Constitution Amendment Act, again loosing a flood of disorder and crime.
