Before commencing the business of the meeting, the chairman referred to the deaths of three friends of the club in Messrs W. D. Snowball. J. Crawford, and John M'Kewen, jun. Mr Snowball, he said, had been connected with the club as an honorary veterinary surgeon for many years, and had always been popular with the members. Mr Crawford was also a friend of the club. He had been a servant of a sister club, having been caretaker at Wingatui, and was hoiioured and respected by all the members of the Forbury Park Club. Mr M'Kewen was a member of a family which had, done a great deal for trotting. He enjoyed a wide popularity, and was an ornament to the profession which he followed. All the members would greatly regret his early death. The chairman moved a motion of sympathy with the relatives, which was carried, the members standing in silence. It was also deceidcd that letters should be sent to the relatives of each conveying the sympathy of the Forbury Park Trotting Club with them in their bereavement. CORRESPONDENCE.

A letter was received from Miss E. Hinds stating that, while making no promises at this time, if circumstances were such that the Forbury Park Club wished Harold Logan to attack his own time, this would be favourably considered by the writer. Arrangements had been concluded with the Metropolitan Trotting Club for the horse to attempt a twominute record for £2OO at its February meeting.—Received. A letter was received from, the New Zealand Trotting Conference stating that a special meeting of the conference would be held in Wellington to consider several

notices of motion by the conference executive and to consider a letter from Mr R. M. D. Morten's solicitors regarding the Ngingongingo case. The Forbury Park Club was asked to appoint a delegate to the conference. —It was decided that Mr Irwin should represent the club. Mr D. W. M'Kewen wrote with reference to the condition of the Forbury Park track. The writer stated that in his opinion it would be impossible for a horse trained on that ground to win a race of the New Zealand Cup calibre. He considered that the trouble lay with the original formation of the track. The ideas of an American track-builder were quoted, and the writer made several suggestions as to how, in his opinion, the track could be improved.—Mr Richardson said be .thought the track was quite good enough for the horses that were here. All that was required was that it should be watered and harrow-ed.—lt was decided that the writer should be thanked for his letter, and that he should be informed that it would receive the careful consideration of the committee, and had been referred to (lie Track Committee for consideration and report. FINANCE. Accounts totalling £763 were passed for payment. BROADCAST ON TROTTING. It was agreed to arrange for a broadcast talk on trotting by Mr R. M'Kenzie a few nights before the forthcoming meeting.
