CROMWELL NOTES
(From Ouk Own Correspondent.) CROMWELL, December 28. THE WEATHER. Although the weather has continued to be warm, it has been frequently interrupted during the week by heavy rain showers, all contributing to a beneficial fall. Haymaking and harvesting are in consequence delayed. CHRISTMAS BUSINESS. Reports generally indicate that the season’s business exceeded expectations, and reliable statements are that it was even better than for the same period last vear. BOWLING. This week the local rink, holders of the Jolly Cup. again successfully defended the trophy. The challengers, a Wan aka rink, were R. Stevenson, B. Balbmtyne, F. Collings, and F. Oakden. It was a keen, even contest up to the fifteenth head, when Cromwell had a one-point lead — 10 —9. Then they carried four heads in succession with fair margins, and eventually won 20 —10.
