QUEENSTOWN NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) QUEENSTOWN, December 28. BOWLING. Queenstown is being visited by a record number of bowlers during the present holiday season. The majority are regular visitors to the town. Dunedin and Invercargill clubs are well represented, and bowlers from Oamaru, Kaitangata, and Mataura are also present. Among those present are D. Campbell (twice champion Singles player of Otago and once winner of the Singles Championsnip in a Southland tournament), L. Lambeth (ex-New Zealand champion), and W. Thorn, Mataura (a player who is well known in Southland and Otago tournaments). Owing to heavy rain on Christmas morning the initial tournament had to be abandoned. On Boxing Day the weather had taken,.up, and there was a full green of 64 players, representing 16 rinks. Several local and visiting, players had to stand down. The tournament was run on the usual lines. Mr James Rennie, who usually organises the tournaments, is unfortunately not present with us this season, and bis familiar figure and cheery manner are much missed. His place, however, is being ably filled by Mr James Nisbet, a constant visitor; to Queenstown, and he is ably assisted by Mr V. Scandrett, the secretary of the Wakatipu Club. The green, though heavy, was running very true. The following are the details of the- Boxing Day tournament: — ■ . ~ H. Smellie,W.G. Thompson. R. Brown, G. Will 19. Leyland, H. W., Fish. J.
