The Hopp Museum for East Asian exhibits, which was opened in 1923, has been presented by a Hungarian art dealer living in Peking with a quantity of North China ornaments, dating from the time of Christ. The new exhibits are regarded aa particularly interesting, as they appear to prove that the Huns who wandered westward to Hungary from a territory adjacent to North China brought the Chinese culture as far as Hungary. The motifs and designs on the Chinese ornaments are similar to those seen on objects dating from the time of the “Volkerwanderung,” which have been unearthed in Hungary. Chiselled dress ornaments of cast bronze are decorated with a beast of prey motif, which is seen on leather strap-endings from the same time.
