LEAGUE OF NATIONS
THE ECONOMIC COMMITTEE. QUESTION OF DUMPING. (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, February 19. A Geneva message states that the Economic Committee of the League of Nations has appointed a sub-committee to examine the dumping question. COVENANT OF THE LEAGUE. AMENDMENTS SUGGESTED. RUGBYL February 19. The Foreign Secretary (Mr Arthur Henderson) stated in the House of Commons, in reply to a question, that the Government had informed the SecretaryGeneral of the League of Nations that it continued to support wholeheartedly the principle involved in the proposal to bring the Covenant of the League into harmony with the Pact of Paris, and that it was ready to join with the other members of the League in accepting the amendments put forward by the first committee of the recent Assembly, subject to the proviso that ratification of these amendments on behalf of the United Kingdom will be made dependent on the entry into force of a general treaty for the reduction and limitation of armaments. As regards the general position of the other members of the British Commonwealth of Nations he recalled the conclusions reached on this subject during the Imperial Conference, and said that their Governments would doubtless address the Secretai’y-General of the League in a similar sense.
