DUTY ON BUTTER
REDUCTION IN FREE STATE. (United Press Association.) (Gy Eltectrio Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January, 22. The Irish Free State Parliament has reduced the duty on butter to 4d per lb instead of lid,. MARKING OP BUTTER. Evidence at inquiry. LONDON, January 22. At the butter inquiry Mr G. Hilbery, K.C., opened the opposition to the application for a marking order. Mr J. Stokes, director of United. Dairies, Limited, in evidence, said he believed that the order might tell in favour of Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Esthonia, and Finland, who would welcome it. He did not think it would benefit the production of English butter in the slightest.
