SHANGHAI, January 22 Baroness Paulette de Pidoll, the wife of the China representatives! the Luxembi -g iron interests, died this morning following self-administered poison, when arriving from Japan accompanied by Sir Frederick Whyte, who until recently was chairman of the Indian Legislative Assembly, a delegate to the Pan-Pacifie Conference, and honorary adviser to the Chinese Government. The beautiful baroness was reported to be the centre of a matrimonial scandal when she departed for Japan. Sir Frederick Whyte was aboard the same vessel. It is reported that many ineffectual attempts at reconciliation with her husband, including Sir Frederick Whytes mediation, caused hysteria, leading to the tragedy.
