(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILTON, December 1. PERSONAL. T* lo , bishop of Dunedin (Bishop Riclmi ds) m ill visit Milton on "Wednseday evening to conduct confirmation service at the local Anglican Church. THE RAINFALL. The official recordings at Milton show that rain fell on 18 days during November, the total rainfall being 3,53 inches. The heaviest fall was recorded on Sunday, November 16, (.52 inches). BOWLING. After postponements on two successive Saturdays owing to inclement weather, the interclub bowling fixture between Milton and Kaitangata was played on Saturday afternoon on the Kaitangata green under delightful weather conditions. RELIEVING UNEMPLOYMENT. To assist the Milton Borough Council in taking advantage of the Unemployment Board’s subsidy of £2 for £l, on works designed for immediate relief of unemployment and effecting much-needed improvements within the borough, a campaign was launched this morning, and before 3 o’clock this afternoon had resulted in £ll4 12s being raised. The South Otago Association’s shield fixtures were resumed on Saturday afternoon, after a lapse of three Saturdays, when play was impossible owing to wet weather. Milton B team suffered a reverse, being defeated by Milburn by 63 runs on the local ground. Milton B batted first. Quick changes of bowling were effected by Milburn, and with the exception of W. Arnott (26) and W. Hawke (18), none of the Milton batsmen reached double figures, and the innings closed at 65, Milburn tried seven bowlers. The opening batsmen for Milburn—G. M‘Lean (31) and H. Allan (14)- —carried the score to 46 before the fall of the first wicket, the second falling one run later. H. Wisely (21) and R. Casey (11) then became associated and scored the winning hit before the partnership was severed at 70 for the third wicket. Useful partnerships followed between Kane, jun (20) and Collings (23 not out). _ The remaining batsmen failed, and the innings closed at 128, leaving Milburn victorious by 63 runs. J. Hood (five for 17) was the most successful bowler for Milton. LAWN TENNIS.

Milton B Grade lawn tennis team travelled to Kaitangata on Saturday afternoon to play an mterclub fixture. Although winning the majority of sets, the Milton team was defeated by seven games. Totals: Kaitangata 7 sets (99 games), Milton 9 sets (92 games).
