(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILTON, May 8. , LADIES’ HOCKEY. The South Otago Association’s shield matches will be continued on Saturday afternoon. Bruce A team will travel to Balelutha, and Milton A team to Kaitangata. Milton B team, will default to Bruce B. 1 Milton A team: Misses M'Donald, Carnegie, Savage, M. Corston, K. Scott, L. M*Kinney, Stewart, M. Scott, G. Scott, M. Gage, L. Vidal. ; Bruce A team: Misses Bissett, E. Krift, L. Littlejohn, M. Littlejohn, N. Powley, F. Morris, R. Smoothy, B. 'Cullin, E. Hansen, Z. Morris, E. Lillicrapp. The newly-formed team at Clutha Valley will take part in the second round of the South Otago Association’s shield competition. The Milton Club has been strengthened by the acquisition of the Clyde Club’s crack centre forward, Miss Myrtle Gye. who has taken up her residence at Milton. Miss Gye has represented Vincent County Association, and prior to her departure from Clyde was Entertained at a valedictory social last week and presented with a suitcase as a souvenir of goodwill from her club mates and friends. ST. JOHN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. John’s Anglican Church was held last night, and was attended by members of the congregation. Canon J. C. Small presided. The members of the retiring vestry were re elected, with the addition of two members to fill vacancies through departure from the district.—Messrs P. C. Farrell and R. H. Michelle were reelected as churchwardens.—The ladies dispensed refreshments after the business meeting was terminated. GOLF. A ladies’ match over IS holes will be played on the Toko Club’s links on Saturday afternoon. A VISITOR FROM SIAM. Mr John Davie, of Dunedin (a former resident of Milton), paid a visit to Milton this week to bid farewell to former acquaintances prior to his return to Western Siam to resume his duties as an engineer bn The Siamese Tin Dredging Syndicate’s dredges, after spending a six months’ holiday. Mr Davie will leave for Auckland on Monday morning on the first stage of his journey to Singapore and Penang, and thence will travel 500 miles to the north-west of Siam before arriving back at the scene of his labours amongst Burmese, Chinese, and Malays in the tin dredges at the edge of the jungle, and far removed from the amenities of civilisation. FOOTBALL. Toko A team: Turnbull, Robertson, Miller, Stewart, Wilkinson, Pringle, Davidson, Buchan, Murdoch, Currie, Heads, Bedford, Jones. Union team: Ewing, Howie, Robinson, Sligo, Stewart, T. Allan, H. Murray, S. M'Noe, R. Moffitt, Stedman, W. Clark, R. Clark, Forrester, S. Allan, Steele. PERSONAL. Mr M'Arthur, who has been assistant station master at Milburn railway station for tho past five years, has been transferred to Invercargill on promotion. Mr and Mrs M'Arthur were tendered a complimentary social on Wednesday evening by residents of the district, when Mr M'Arthur was presented with a travelling rug and Mrs M'Arthur with a silver cake basket, in appreciation of their service. Both were active members of the Milburn Lawn Tennis Club, and were presented with a bedroom ivoride clock by their fellow members. Best wishes were extended for their future welfare. On relinquishing her connection with the staff of Stewart’s Manchester House after 12 years’ service, Miss C. Campbell was entertained at a complimentary social evening at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. E. Stewart. In honour of her approaching marriage Miss Campbell was presented by her fellow employees with a set of cutlery, and also with an eiderdown quilt from the members of the firm.
