Messrs Ball and IrHugh reported that trnLa ad i«tp e i :t f d ' the Port Chalmets r P* l ? | t> a . n( i had found that “it was quite suitable for First Grade niatches. The grass was on the, long side, but the club had promised to have it cut. Regarding the Motmngtoa ground, the report of thl committee was that it Was Unfavourable, and recommended that the Unity ground be used instead. This ar6a required coal posts to be erected, and it was suggested to transfer the ones from the Mormngton ground, which the committee understood was to be done up during the • winter.— ■these recommendations were agreed to. . a PP]ication for a ball was received from the Normal Secondary School team, and granted as previously. The secretary again reported that several teams had failed to send in their result cards, and it was decided to bring the matter' before the clubs.

POSITION AT TRAINING COLLEGE. The matter of the reported action of the principal of the Dunedin Training College in placing difficulties in the way of students who, desired to play the Association game during the course of their training at the college was further discussed by the committee, when a letter from the secretary of the. New Zealand .Dootball Council was read in reply to a communication forward.ed by the local association. The secretary of the coiinci 1 stated that his committee was willing and anxious to help in the matter, and in oraerto have a strong case to submit to the Minister of Education, asked that the principal of the college should be interviewed, and hie replies to questions for* warded. The council felt that this was necessary before an interview with the Minister was sought, and that the Specific instructions issued by the principal should be stated. . - ■ , The chairman pointed out that the committee took strong exception t 6 the posh tibn taken up by the principal of the college—at least, one player having been lost fto the game through bis action. Mr Aitchisqn said he felt it was, unnecessary to interview the principal, as the committee had every faith in Mr Mlnnes, who had brought the matter forward. In reply to a question, Mr MTnnes said he would not withdraw one word of the remarks he had made at the previous meeting. He knew it to be a fact that one , of the students was now actually playing Rugby after what had been said to him, and that this student had been playing the Association game up to the time of his joining the college. Mr JuTnnes further pointed out that he was not “up against” any person in particu* jar, but against the principle that any headmaster or principal should have the right to assume the authority to order the students to play any particular game. A motion moved by Mr W. P. Smith and seconded by Mr C. Aitchison that the chairman, Messrs W. R. M'Hugh, and J. Beattie be delegated to interview the principal of the college was carried. Mr Ball’s amendment that the secretary be instructed to write to the New Zealand Council pointing out that the facts as stated in the previous letter were correct lapsed for the want of a seconder.
