(Fbom Ode )wn Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, April 1. HOCKEY. There was a good attendance at tire annual meeting of the Palmerston Ladies Hockey Club, held last night. The Mayor presided and stated there had /been quite a successful ‘'season, and that the club was in a satisfactory financial position Several new members were nominated. The following officers were elected toi the ensuing season: —President, Miss Cochrane: vice-presidents—Mesdames C. F Smith, H Ross, C. J. Scott, D. Ross, Mitchell, Challis. Miss M'Ritchie, and Messrs H. Ross, C. J. Scott. W. H. Hopkins, H. O’Neill. W. T. Pickett. W. Pattaway. A M'Gregor, J. F. Warren, W. Dreaver, J. Gordon; secretary. Miss C. E Manley;* assistant secretary. Miss Cochrane; treasurer, Miss L. Forrest; trustee, Mrs Wills: auditor, Mr 1. Gordon; coach, Mr D. J. Munro. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted the club last season. WOMEN’S DIVISION. FARMERS' UNION. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston branch of the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union was held last Saturday in the Athemeum Hall, tire following members being present:—Mesdames Craig. Collins. Balliiigall. Sheat, Service. M’Kcdney Wedge. Thomas, Twaddle, Scott. Robson, M'Gregor, Walker, Morrison, and Misses M'P.itchic (2). It was proposed to hold the annual meeting on April 11. Ah Saturday evening was not convenient night for some of the members to attend the meetings it was proposed and carried unanimously that Friday he substituted. During the evening Mi*s M -Millnn. o, the Home S-iencc Department, Otago Univorsitv gave a very interesting and instructive address on “Child Welfare.” taking for her subject “The -School Child and His Lunch.”
