CAPTAIN CHICHESTER.

STIRRING- WELCOME IN CHRISTCHURCH. (Pee United Pbess Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 2. A crowd of 15,000 welcomed Captain Chichester when he arrived at the Wigram aerodrome this afternoon, having flown from Wellington. The CanterburyAero Club held another display, really to keep faith with the public, owing to the pageant two weeks ago being spoiled by the misty weather. Captain Chichester was met by three club aeroplanes and escorted to the aerodrome. After landing he was driven round in an open car, receiving the! cheering plaudits of the huge crowd, and thereafter was officially welcomed and ‘‘congratulated by Mr J. Leslie, chairman of the Paparua County Council, and the Rev. J. K. Archer, Mayor of Christchurch.
