DRUIDISM.

An excellent attendance greeted the Arch Druid and his officers at-the quarterly meeting of Otago Lodge on Monday. Contributions came in freely, and the secretary and treasurer were well satisfied with the evening’s results. It was noticed during the bards’ report that the sick pay list was fairly heavy, denoting more than the average amount of sickness amongst the members. The secretary reported that arrangements were well in hand for the entertainment of the Grand Lodge representatives on March 3. An invitation from Mistletoe Lodge for March 4 had to be declined owing to the Grand Lodge meeting being fixed for the same date. Bro. Barnes was welcomed back to the lodge after an extended trip to England, and one brother who had given up membership was readmitted by ballot. The different committees which had in hand the arrangements for the forthcoming jubilee celebrations reported progress. Two new proposals for membership were received, and will be ballotted for in due course. The Grand Lodge business paper was discussed, and the lodges’ delegates were granted a free hand on all questions. The usual loyal and druidic toasts were given and responded to by the several recipients. The quarterly meeting of Good Intent Lodge was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Mosgiel, on Wednesday evening, A.D. Bro. C. Scott presiding. D.P. Bro. Welsh was present officially, and also a number of brethren from Royal Oak Lodge, all receiving a hearty welcome. A considerable amount of business was put through, and two candidates were initiated as * full benefit members of the lodge. P.G.P. Bro. Walsh briefly explained the Grand Lodge order paper, and was thanked for doing so, the delegates being given .a free hand at the Grand Lodge meeting. An invitation from Mistletoe Lodge to a ladies’ social night 8n March 4 was accepted, and were appointed to represent the lodge on that occasion. D.P. Bro. Welsh, on behalf of the lodge, presented P.A.' Ri o . C. Scott with a handsome pipe for serving more than one term in the A.D. chan" Bro. Scott thanked the lodge for the gift! It was resolved tc send a letter of con! dolenee to I.G. Bro. Boyd, who recently lost bis father, a motion of sympathy being carried by the members standing in silence. The lodge was then adjourned to defend the Euchre Shield against Royal Oak Lodge, the result being as follows; Good Intent eight points. Royal Oak five points, the holders thus retaining the shield.

Tlie annual meting and installation of the officers of the Royal Oak Arch Chapter took place in the hall, Dowling street, R.A.D. Bro. Walker presiding. Six candidates presented their certificates for degrees, six receiving the A.D. and four tlie P.A. degrees. After routine business had been disposed of, the annual report and balance sheet were submitted and approved. It was decided to form a lodge of instruction next meeting, where any lodge member or officer would receive instruction in lodge management, etc. The election of officers for the coming year resulted as follows:—R.A.D,, Bro. H. Brockie; R.V.A.D.. Bro. R. Hughes; R.A., secretary, Bro E. IT. Macfarlane (reelected) ; R.A. treasurer, Bro. B. Reid (re-elcctcd) ; R.A. Bards, Bros. Borrou ami Reeves; R.V. Bards. Bros Kilgour and Rainbow; R.T.G., Bro. Cormack; R.0.G., Bro. Webb; RAI.C.. Bro. C. Wade. It was decided to make the presentation of a jewel to the retiring P.R.A.8., Bro. Wade, at the next meeting.
