PWM , wor f k organised by the P.W.M.U. Society of the Lawrence Presbyterian Church was very successful. The stalls were well supplied with goods and a hearty response was made by the pubT H 6 D • eSU I t °f the sale "as to go. to the mission funds, the sum of ffi.i being realised. THE TRANSPORT QUESTION. The most recent development in transport is the operation of two motor companies between this district and Dunedin Hus competition with the railway and two other motor companies which hav through services now g.ves residents no fewer than s x d'tfcrent moans by which they can tia\el in the district. FLOOD PROTECTION. The contractors for the Wethcrstonc Creek flood protection work have made good progress and have practically more than half of the portective work done. This appears to be satisfactorily accomplished as a flood protective measure, and will no doubt be a safeguard for many years. HIGH SCHOOL JUBILEE. The General Committee of the school jubilee met to finalise details in connection with the forthcoming function in January, 1931. Already 300 ex-pupils have registered from all parts of the Dominion, and it was decided to class the pupils in three periods—lßCs to 1880. 1881 to 1010, and 1911 to 1930. The badge colours will be purple, scarlet, and blue respectively. LAWRENCE RAILWAY STATION. The Railways Department's slnif has completed the installation of electric light in the station yards, and the improvement is favourably commented, on by passengers.
