CLAIM AGAINST UNION STEAM SHIP COMPANY. WIDOW AWARDED £IOOO. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 8. A claim in which Elizabeth Archibald, a wldo '£ claimed £IOOO from the Union Steam Ship Company in respect of the death of her husband while working on the wharf on August 15, while the Kaimai was discharging coal, was heard in the Arbitration Court to-day, and judgment fras given for plaintiff for the full amount, with £ls 15s costs. His Honor remarked that there was no need to reserve his decision, the case being one of plain facts. He said the deceased was killed within a .tew feet of where he was working, and it was reasonable to infer that he. went between the trucks for some legitimate purpose, and, as the trucks were not at the time coupled to an engine, he went there without incurring an added risk.
