FIGHT OVER A COFFIN
TWO JEALOUS WOMEN,
THE “CORPSE” WAKENED UP,

MEXICO CITY, November 4. Alejandro De Lapena, a rich inheritor of . a famous name and immense property, was pronounced dead by two physicians. There followed a wake, and Anna Rosales appeared on the scene and insisted on taking possession of the corpse, saying that she was his wife. Mrs De Lapena, the second wife, disputed possession, and the women came to blows. People crowded in from the street as the women shrieked and fought over the coffin. When the row was at its height, De Lapena rose suddenly in his coffin asking what all the rackct waa about. The mourning guests fled in terror.
The story of the resurrection spread rapidly, and the street was quickly jammed for several blocks by curious people, who demanded that the dead man should be brought out, where all could see him. The intervention of police and firemen was necessarv to clear the streets. 1
“ You" see, two jealous women can wake the dead,” Alejandro said, when asked what brought him out of hia death sleep.
