CONCERT AT BENEVOLENT INSTITUTE.

Members of Miss Jimsie C. Fraser’s concert party met at the concert hall of the Caversham Benevolent Institution on Saturday evening and entertained a record attendance of the inmates, staff and visitors. The old folk appeared to be particularly happy ana bright, and entered most heartily into the spirit of community singing. Mr George Paterson (one of the oldest inmates) sang quite creditably two favourite numbers, “ Down in the Valley ” and “ Abide With Me.” Then followed bagpipe selections by Pipers George and John Yardlcv, pianoforte selections by Myra Bott, Irish jig* by Miss Xetty Pullar, recitation, “My Lcotle Rosa,” Miss Maude Driver; saxophone solos, Miss Mavis Clark; sailors’ hornpipe, Miss Xetty Pullar j vc ! solo, “ Caring for the Bose,” Miss Grade Smith; highland liing, Misses j . : Hastings, Joyce Wilson and Master Keith Cameron; xylophone and . pianoforte duo, Mr Andrew Fraser and Miss Clara Schofield; scan triubhaia, Misses Pat Atkinson and Evelyn Williams; pianoforte selections, Mr Upton Harvey; vocal solos, “Genevieve” and “Pretty Flowers,” Miss H. Bradley; pianoforte and violin duo, “ Hungarian Dance,” Miss Olive West and Mr A. French; scan triubhais, Miss Patricia Wilson and Master George- Reilly, humorous vocal selections, Mr JacK Broom; Irish jig, Mr Alexander Hastings, sen.; recitation, “Keep Smiliim,” Miss M. Driver; vocal solos to own accompaniment, “ The Anld Fashioned Hobse” and “My Ain Hoose,” Piper John Yardley; Highland fling. Misses Netty Pullar, Pat Atkinson, Maisie Hastings, Evelyn Williams, Patricia and Joyce Wilson, Jean Freeman and Masters George Reilly and Keith Cameron. During the evening Misses Clara Schofield, Mavis Clark, Xetty Pullar, Evelyn Williams, Pat Atkinson, Maude Driver, Jean Freeman, Grade Smith, Xada Phillips and Messrs Robert Currie, Andrew Fraser and Piper George Yardley, entertained the sick in the hospital wards. Mr Sutherland (manager of the institution), thanked Miss Fraser and -her band of performers, especially thanking the pipers and accompanists., Miss Clara Schofield and Mr Upton Harvey played the pianoforte accompaniments and Pipers George and John Yardley supplied the bagpipe music.
