ANNUAL REPORT. The bank , OW .’ n S on vestry account is £lO2 10s Gd. The vestry reports that the Rev. W. Hardy-Johnson arrived in Dunedin on July 16, and commenced his duties on July 22. Parishioners gave him and_ his family a warm welcome to the parish. Since the closing of the financial year, but before the publication of this report death has claimed the Very Rev. Dean Fitchett. Though he had reached an advanced age and his physical condition gave cause for some anxiety, the passing of the deap came as a shock to his many no voted friends in the parish and outside. - When lie laid down the cure rf All Saintsj m March of 1927 the hope was entertained that the dean, after his long and arduous labours, would be given a substantial nf'-iqcl of rest in our midst, but under the will of Almighty God it was decreed otherwise It is difficult adequately to express the feelings of affection and that were held for the dean. Because of his intellectual abilities, force of character, and debating powers he was a tower of strength to the church in this diocese. His long ministry of 48 years at All Saints’ was marked by brilliant preaching, prudent administration, and devotion to his parochial duties. His literary abilities were of the highest order, and his broad-minded citizenship and belief in the mission- of the British Empire was conspicuous. The influence of the dean on All Saints’ parish will remain an invaluable legacy, and hie death rcmoves one whose friendship extended to innumerable men and women in all walks of life. Particulars of the offices of the church: Holy communion 3408, baptisms 21, confirmations 26, marriages 11. Mr Garnet Day (Herbert Scholar) continues to discharge his duties, in an efficient manner. The thanks of the parishioners are due and will be readily given to the managers of the organisations and societies of the parish. Mr A. W. Lilly, organist and choirmaster, with a choir membership of 16 ladies, 10 men, and 10 boys; Mr H. I. M. Ross (Sunday School), Miss Longford (Ladies’ Guild), Mrs G. R. Ritchie (Junior Guild), Mrs R. V. Fulton (Mothers’ Union), Misses -Maoassey and Hammer (Girls’ Friendly Society), Miss liowhson (St. Barnabas’ Association), Mr S. W, Jarvis (Men’s Club), Captain Burgess (Girl Guides), Scoutmaster Ashby (Boy Scouts); Mrs Farr, Misses Crockett. Whitehead, Sim, Houlahan, Smith, Burgess, and Wiles, 1 who voluntarily take in turn each week the duty of keeping the sanctuary and memorial brasses clean; Mesdames Farr, Waller Smith, Sister Elizabeth, Misses Howlison, and Crockett, who each week take the duty in turn of supplying flowers for the altar. In thanking, as in former years, the many volunteer workers who assist in keeping up the organisations of the parish, the vestry would especially acknowledge the co-operation of the guilds in maintaining its finances.
