CONDEMNED CHINESE
AN ATTEMPT AT ESCAPE. INDIAN WARDERS KILLED. (United Press Association.\ (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SHANGHAI, April 30, At the inquiry into the deaths of two Indian warders, who were killed while resisting a recent attempt of condemned Chinese to escape from gaol, evidence was elicited that 50 men were under death sentence. Some had been awaiting the confirmation of the Nanking Government for more than a year. One condemned man testified that the plot was. evolved because the prisoners were tired of waiting to die, and expected to be shot during the attempted break.-—United Service.
