SMALLPOX IN INDIA
A DECLINE SINCE MARCH. VACCINATION RECOMMENDED. (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) RUGBY, April 29. Earl Wiaterton (Under-Secretary for India) stated in the House of Commons that the latest figures show'cd that smallpox had declined in Bombay since the -middle of March, the number of cases having dropped from 142 during the week ended March 16 to 86 in the week ended April 6. Circulars hail been issued to shipping companies by tbp Port Health Department at Bombay advising the vaccination of all passengers and crews of vessels leaving Bombay, except persons recently vaccinated, and it was understood that this advice was being followed. RESTRICTIONS IN FRANCE. TOURIST RESORTS DESERTED. LONDON, April 29. France is losing hundreds of thousands of pounds - weekly in consequence of the smallpox restrictions. The tourist traffic from England has fallen off 50 per cent. Hundreds of excursionists have cancelled their trips, and advance bookings are almost negligible. Many coastal resorts rely almost solely on British and American visitors.—Australian Press Association.
