WORLD'S BEST SELLER
BIBLE AN EASY WINNER. MILLIONS OF COPIES. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 30. (Received May 1, at 0.15 a.m.) The. Bible is still the world’s “best seller.” The British Foreign Bible Society’s annual report shows that during the past year 11,500,000 copies were issued, which is a record, being nearly 500,000 more than the previous best year. The sales increased everywhere, except in Soviet Russia, which is closed to the society’s agents. The secretary (the Rev. E. Smith) points out that there is now a complete Bible in 146 languages, complete New Testaments in 150, and smaller parts of the Bible in 322. During the past quarter of a century the society has printed the Scriptures in a fresh language every five weeks—a record in translation work, which has benefited many parts of the world, particularly Africa, where the Scriptures are now translated into 203 languages.:—United Service,
