DUNEDIN HIGHLAND PIPE BAND.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting and-reunion of the Dunedin Highland Ripe Band was held in the Embassy Salon on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, about 90 persons being present. 1 The following officers were elected for the year:—-Patron, Mr R, M'Kenzie (reelected); president, Mr J. Hope (reelected) ; ' vice-presidents—Messrs J. R. Fairbairn; J. Young, A. Macivor, C. A. MrNeile, A, Maxwell, E. jl Gibb* J#‘ Robertson, J, Trengrove, W. M'Laughlan, W. Fraser.v D. Ross, B. Cameron, J. M'Donald, J. 6. Douglas; secretary, Mr Thomas Gilchrist (re-elected); treasurer, Mr C. Rennie (reelected); hon. solicitor, Mr J, Lang (reelected); storeman, Mr J. A. R. Brown (re-elecetd); auditors, L. Simpson and J. 6. Creighton (re-elected); committee— Messrs A, Walker, P. Duff, W. Stewart, E. M'Kenzie,- A, M'Coll. Mr J. Hope (president), who occupied the chair, congratulated the band on its very satisfactory financial position, notwithstanding the heavy expenditure on. uniforms during the year. The thanked the members for again electing him president, a position he was very proud to fill, and he. assured them he would do his best for the band.. ,Mr J. R, Fairbairn (vice-president) congratulated the members of the band, and impressed on them the need to increase the hon. members' list. - The following toasts were honoured during the evening:—“ Kindred Societies,” proposed by Piper R. Burns and responded to by Mr R. M'Kenzie (Gaelic Society), Mr A. Campbell (Caledonian Society). Mr A. M'Kay (Pipers and Dancers’ Society), Mr A. Campbell (Milton Pipe Band), Mr G, Currie (Burns Club), and Mr J. D. Hunter (Brass Band Association); “ Dunedin Highland Pipe Band,” proposed by the vice-president and responded to by Drum, Major Gilchrist; Hon. Members and Ex-members," proposed by the president and responded to by Messrs J. Ford, A. Chisholm, and J. Johnston, Other toasts honoured were “The Press” jmd “The Ladies” The president presented Piper P. Duff with the Thomson Cup and Drummer D. C. Ledgerwood with the Hope Cup, and congratulated, both members on winning the prizes for the year. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs Knight, Hollowman Jeffs, Nicol, Brown, Walker, and Brain, and pipe selections were given by Piper M'Millan and Hbrnell. A very successful evening came to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
