THE KEA.

TO THB EDITOK. Sin, —Kindly permit me to throw a little lighton the kea question, which, is •a'"very serious one for the runholders in the Lakes district, where on. one statioiv alone there were some hundreds of sheep destroyed by .the kea in a. few days. Apparently your correspondent, Mr E. ■V. Sanderson, has lost sight of the fact that the kea flies many miles before commencing its deadly work.: Regarding the other point he places before us, when a. prospective buyer inspecting a-property he has no opportunity of gauging the number of pests in the vicinity. The kea. is a malicious pest., a menace to one of the leading industries of New Zealand, and should be treated as such.—l am, etc., E. G. M.
