THE HALF-HOLIDAY POLL IN MOSGIEL.

tO THB EDITOR. Sir, —After reading the • explanation by • "Ratepayer" on the half-holiday question as it. affects Mosgiel, I feel sure that there is no-necessity for a poll. Amongst the few shopkeepers that would.be affected are three lady. shopkeepers who run their business without' help, and that these shops should be closed on Saturday is, I am satisfied, not the desire of the Mosgiel people. ~ I think the public' ia not much concerned when the shopkeepers have their half-holiday, and I suggest that the shopkeepers should settle their differences without appealing to the electore. As, however, the question has been forced on the electors, I trust they will follow the advice of "Ratepayer," and consider the small shopkeeper and vote for Thursday.—l am. etc., Lady Eiector.
