MRS MEYRICK ARRESTED AGAIN; SMART SET SURPRISED. (United Press Association.) - (By Electric Telegraph—Copyrights . LONDON, December 2. - (Received pec. 3, at 5.5 p.m.) London’s smartest. set was surprised at the arrest on warrant of Mrs Meyrick, the night club queen. She will appear at Bow Street to-morrow, where she will be charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with a charge against ex-Sergcant Goddard, of Vine street, who is under remand. Goddard was dismissed from the force last montu for failing satisfactorily to account for the receipt of large sums of money from an unknown source.’ It is stated that £12,000 which was seized is at present in the possession of the Home Secretary.

Goddard was arrested last week and charged at Bow Street.with having accepted £6O from Luigi Rebuff!, a prominent member of the night club,’ whose uncle’s club is frequented by prominent people. Rebuffi was also arrested, ' and the arrest of Mrs Meyrick followed.— Australian Press Association.

Mrs Kate Evelyn Meyrick was recently released from prison • after having served a sentence of six months' imprisonment in the second division for selling intoxicants without a license at the Cecil' Club, Gerrard street, W. formerly known a# the Forty-Three Club. Mrs Meyrick is described, as the most inveterate breaker of club'licensing laws in London. She has paid about £I3OO in fines and ■ served, a. previous sentence •of six months in the second.division.
