QUESTION OF SAFEGUARDING. SUPPORT FROM TEXTILE UNIONS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.' LONDON, December 3. (Received Dec. 4, at 1 a.m.) There is great interest in Yorkshire in the decision of a meeting of the National Association of Unions in the Textile Trades in Bradford. In consequence of the, report five trade union associations adopted the following declaration:— “ That, as Unemployment in the wool in-, dustry is likely to be accentuated by the importation of foreign dressed goods, trades unions, with certain limitations, should therefore support those manufacturers who are -making further application for safeguarding.” The declaration follows a conference with the employers. It is Understood that the duty proposed will apply to all imported wool fabrics of from 2 to II ounces per square yard._ A previous safeguarding application in 1925 was refused, but the trade unions were not associated with the employers. The,'trade unions will meet on Tuesday to Maw up details.—Australian Press Association.
