OAMARU MARKETS. The grain market has shown some activity in Oauiaru this week, and a number of transactions in wheat, oats, and barlev are reported. Many samples of wheat have been under offer, but the sales have not been extensive owing to the difference in ideas of value as between millers and growers. Early in the week Hunters college wheat sold at 6s per bushel on trucks but towards the end of the week owners had to accept 5s lOd. The best price obtained for Tuscan and Dreadnought has been 5? 4d, and for Velvet 6s 9d. Most of the growers are declining to do business at the prices offering, but the millers are well supnlied and show no disposition to increase their offers. The market for oats is by no means brisk. Sales of A Cartons have been made at 2s lOd per bushel on trucks, and of B Cartons at 2s 7d. Some of the merchants are effecting sales as between farmer and farmer. . Oaten sheaf chaff has not been o{tenn«, in quantity. The nominal value is £3 los per ton. on trucks. . Several transactions in barley are reported. Malting Chevalier has chanced hands at from 3s 6d to 3s 7d per bushel, on trucks, and Cape barley at 3a per bushel, ex store. ... Potatoes are offering in quantities, and prices range from £4 15s to iS per ton, on trucks. Good quality cocksfoot seed has sold at from 7d to Bd, ryegrass at 3s l|d, and western wolths at 2s 3d. The live stock market has shown some animation, and since the good fall of rain there has been quite a lively demand for store stock. Rape lambs have sold at 22s 9rl, ewo lambs 25s Id, small hill wether lambs 15s 3d, two-tooth ewes 365, and fat wethers 28s 6d. Fat lambs are selling at schedule prices, which have not changed for some weeks. Ox and heifer beef continues to sell at prices on a par with Burnside. Heavy fat cows have realised £8 10s, and dairy cows have changed hands 'at from' £7 to £B. Pigs have hardened a little, and good weaners are now worth from 15s to 20s. '
